Atwater Village Boundaries
As for the boundaries that we at Atwater Village Now cover, we have chosen to primarily focus in Atwater Village but may occasionally throw in a post here and there for a location near but outside of Atwater Village.
And like most Los Angeles neighborhoods, Atwater Village’s boundaries are precarious and ever-changing. There are a couple of different ways that can help determine what is considered to be Atwater Village, the rest we are leaving up to you!
The first map displays the area that the Atwater Village Neighborhood Council represents (click on the map for the full PDF):
For City Council representation, Atwater Village is divided between Council District 4 (Tom LaBonge) in the northern region and Council District 13 (Eric Garcetti) in the southern region:
The following map is from the LA Times Mapping Project showing about the same boundaries as the neighborhood council map (click on the map for the link):
The purpose of the LA Times map, however, is to help LA Times readers know what neighborhoods they are reporting on, and do not necessarily reflect the historical, social, and geographical borders of Atwater Village itself. It does, however, take into account Census Data, resident letters and comments, and other city resources to draw this map, so it proves to be a valuable resource. If you disagree with the above map, feel free to contact the LA Times Mapping Project.
Voting Information
Because the neighborhood is divided between Council District 4 and 13, make sure you know who your rep is by visiting their respective websites (Garcetti’s website has a quick reference where you can enter your address in the field and find out who your rep is, click here for that link).
For information about the neighborhood council, view our Local Government page for contact information.
