The Golden Road Brewing team of beer lovers are, following a great Echo Park crawl, bringing the pub crawl to Atwater Village this Friday night.
Here’s the agenda for the tour of beers:
Bill’s Liquor (tasting) from 6:00-7:30 pm
Tam O’Shanter from 8:00-9:00 pm
Bigfoot Lodge from 9:30-10:30 pm
The Griffin at 11:00 pm
Click here for a map of the route, or check out the Facebook page for the event for more information.
Give your AC a break (if you’ve got one!) and head out for a night on the town amongst your fellow Villagers! Friday night is the return of the Atwater Village Summer Nights on the Boulevard.
Explore some shops you’ve never entered before, swing your hips to some great local, love music, and join in on other family-friendly, neighborly activities. Noteworthy events are Hugo’s Tacos Ice Cream Social (you know where it is!), art & jewelery galleries, music entertainment, and other businesses along Glendale Boulevard that will remain open late.
Goes on from 6-10:00 pm. See you there!

If you didn’t get a chance to check out Atwater Village’s new brewery, Golden Road Brewing, last month for its grand opening, now’s your chance! This weekend, Golden Road Brewing is hosting a Winter Fest beer garden with ColLAboration, a group of craft beer gurus and bars that come together to create pop-up style beer gardens and events in LA.
You can purchase your mugs ahead of time at Golden Road Brewing or online, and the mug serves as your entrance to the Saturday, December 3 beer garden event at the brewery.
A limited number of glasses will also be available at the door at noon, but we suggest buying online beforehand as these events can be popular. Here’s the pricing breakdown:
$15 for a limited edition Winterfest Stein
$25 for your choice of glass and 3 beer tokens
$28 for a 5 ounce taster glass and 5 taster tickets
$38 for a 5 ounce taster glass and 10 taster tickets
There will also be food from local vendors.
Golden Road Brewing/ColLAboration Winter Beer Fest
5410 N. San Fernando Road West
Saturday, December 3 from 12-5:00 pm
Due to the wind storm blowing out the utilities, ColLAboration has been postponed until 2012. You can hang on to your glass if you’ve already bought one and use it at the future date (TBA). Refunds are also an option!
Setting up the Christmas tree. Photo by Cindy Marie Jenkins
Thursday is the 20th Annual Atwater Village Tree Lighting ceremony!
And it might actually be a little chilly, so we’ll definitely enjoy some delicious hot chocolate while we wait for the count down!
The 50-year-old, 80-foot tall California Redwood Tree on Glendale Boulevard (lovingly deemed the Charley Brown Christmas tree) was recently adorned with holiday lights and ornaments (pictured). The tree lighting celebration is a great tradition and draws hundreds of people from all over Los Angeles, as well as Atwater Village community leaders, and even Santa Claus! The LA Fire Department and Santa will initiate the lighting of the tree, schools and organizations will perform, and special dignitaries will make some presentations.
The tradition was initiated by the Atwater Village Chamber of Commerce in 1991, but has expanded with the active involvement of the Atwater Village Neighborhood Council as well as community groups, businesses, religious institutions, individual volunteers and the City of Los Angeles.
