Fresh pressed juices coming soon to Atwater Village

The small, skinny space nestled between Kaldi Coffee and Atwater Grill on Glendale Boulevard has been recently going through a transformation from an Optometrist’s office to a brand new, organic cold-pressed juice bar.

Simply (and aptly) called “The Juice,” owners Melissa Cronkhite and Elizabeth Halpern have partnered up to completely renovate the space down to the studs. Hoping to open within the next month or so, the duo are “very excited to be part of the Atwater community.”

In addition to 12 daily menu offerings and daily specials of cold-pressed juice, they are also offering a variety of smoothies using vegan ice cream (like frozen banana and raw almonds) or as scoops. The juice menu includes offerings from the simple Carrot and Coconut, to bright greens like Apple, Celery, Kale, Romaine, Parsley, Lemon and Ginger, and Cucumber, Kale, Romaine, Parsley and Lemon. On a hot day, we’d recommend trying the Pineapple, Parsley and Mint (one recipe we often do at home!). You can also purchase 16 oz or 32 oz of fresh coconut or almond milk.

Pricing is not bad although not cheap – $8 will get you a 16 oz. juice, but it is organic, and cold-pressed juices are incredibly flavorful and healthy. If you’re breaking a sweat down at Heartbeat House just a couple of doors down, this will definitely be a great option for those looking to finish off a workout with something nutritious!

Additionally, all fruit and vegetable scraps will be going to L.A. Compost and Enrich LA to be turned into composted used for gardening projects across Los Angeles.

Welcome to the neighborhood! The Juice will be open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, seven days a week. They are located at 3145 Glendale Blvd.

Two new businesses taking up shop on Glendale Boulevard in Atwater Village

Glendale Boulevard is seeing a surge of new businesses and activity in the past couple of years, what with the opening of Proof Bakery, Bon Vivant Market, Links n Hops, and more. Two more spaces are gearing up to open on the popular main street of Atwater Village, including a Boba cafe and a new music venue.

Boba Loca is taking over A Boutique for Little Tots at the lower end of street at 3121 Glendale Boulevard. The menu includes, of course, Boba, shakes, smoothies, coffee, and “slush coolers” with flavors like Honeydew. Eater LA says it plans on opening up in three months (so November or December).

Just up the street at 3149 Glendale Boulevard is Vox Populi, a “a pop up music venue” by Kaldi Coffee and Jacknife Records & Taps. Vox Populi is Latin for “voice of the people.”

Atwater Village’s Bon Vivant Market soft opening tomorrow

We’ve been eying and anxiously awaiting the opening of yet another new place to stuff our faces (and, why not, get a little tipsy) in Atwater Village – Bon Vivant Market. At first we kind of envisioned it like a mini Whole Foods – a salad and sandwich bar, other freshly prepared foods, maybe an occasional wine tasting, that sort of thing. But it’s actually a little bit more than that, which everyone will get a first-hand look at tomorrow for the market’s soft opening starting at 11:00 am.

Before we go into the details, open up your iTunes and put on a little Francoise Hardy to set the mood. The important thing to think about is it’s not exactly like a grocery store market (but don’t nix the Whole Foods/Mother’s Market comparison completely). It’s more like an indoor market, slash cafe, slash bar, slash restaurant.

There are no signs of the Jubilee Adult Daycare Center, which shut down last year. All the storefront doors are open to the Glendale Boulevard sidewalk, through which you can walk in and have your choice of (starting from the right side of the building) charcuterie and sandwiches in the savory section, desserts and pastries in the sweets section, coffee and tea, and/or anything from the full bar (including 16 wine taps). The ideas is that you order from any station, get your number, and have a seat at the large communal tables or cafe tables at the front.

In the kitchen is Chef “Bloody” Bill Annesely, but don’t let the name scare you off – there will be plenty of vegan and vegetarian options available. Lunch will be more along the lines of the small bites, meats, sausages, and so forth. Dinner will be a little more upscale and may include a cocktail server or two to help get those drink orders of yours in.

Owner Tricia LaBelle emailed some more details about what to expect:

Atwater Village Farm Market opening soon – very soon!

Good news for Atwater Village lovers, farm lovers, healthy eating lovers, and lovers of life all around – Atwater Village Farm has set a grand opening date! And it’s in just TWO weeks!!

Friday, December 16 is the big day for resident and owner Piper Goldstein, who has been working extremely hard to get the farm-to-table store concept under way since earlier this year. They had some considerable setbacks during renovations of the building, but got the green light from the health department at the end of November.

If you’ve missed some of the mixers and other events held at Atwater Village Farm, you’ll have your chance to take a look inside when they open officially on Friday, December 16. After that, their hours will be seven days a week from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Be aware they’ll be closed over some of the holidays, including Christmas Day, New Years Eve, and New Years Day. But they are open Christmas Even from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm if you need anything.

We’re really looking forward to the final product and having a chance to shop for local produce every day of the week!

Atwater Village Farm Market is located at 3224 Glendale Blvd., at the corner of Glendale and Larga.
